HEADLINES:

Mount Royal has six games left to close out the first half of the season. Their opponents during that span are three of the bottom four teams in the conference. After surviving a very tough start to go 5-3, the Cougars have a chance to run the table heading into the break.

THE SERIES:

Mount Royal has dominated the Pronghorns over the past four years, going 11-3-2.

MOUNT ROYAL COUGARS (7-3-0)

Jamal Watson and Luke Simpson have been terrific in their first seasons with the club. Watson is leading the league in rookie points (6G, 6A) and is just two points off the scoring lead for the entire conference. Simpson also has 12 points (4G, 8A), all while playing primarily on the team's fourth line. Complementing the forwards for the second straight year has been Colin Cooper. The sophomore netminder is 7-2-0 this season and boasts the second best goals against average (1.97) and the second best save percentage (0.924) in Canada West.

LETHBRIDGE PRONGHORNS (3-4-3)

Lethbridge is holding onto the final playoff spot by a slim, one point margin over UBC. The Pronghorns have lost five of six games and are not trending in the right direction. They began the season 2-2, including a victory over the first place Saskatchewan Huskies, in which they scored four times in the third period. Third year forward Justin Valentino is second in the league in goals scored with seven this season.
