The Alberta Golden Bears defeated the Cougars 2-0 in last season's best-of-three semifinal series. Mount Royal is 4-11-1 against the Golden Bears in regular season play.

MOUNT ROYAL COUGARS (4-0-0)

The Cougars are the only unbeaten team left in the conference. They have posted two decisive weekend sweeps over Manitoba and Calgary. Matt Brown leads the team in goals (4) and points (6). Brown, the team's captain, was electric Friday night, scoring three times in front of a capacity crowd at Flames Community Arenas.

ALBERTA GOLDEN BEARS (2-2-0)

Alberta defeated the reigning Canada West champions during their first weekend of the season. They then lost two in a row before dismantling UBC 9-4 on Saturday night. Jamie Crooks leads Canada West in goals (5) and points (7). Brendan Burke and Kenny Cameron have split the goaltending duties through six games, each recording a win.
