    NAPANEE, ON - Veteran forward Sarah Weninger is the Marion Hilliard Award winner for Student-Athlete Community Service. Weninger finished tied for Mount Royal's scoring title this season, registering nine goals and 13 points in 25 games.

    WINNIPEG – The #5 University of Manitoba Bisons shutout the Mount Royal Cougars in women’s hockey, Saturday, February 18 at Wayne Fleming Arena in game two of the Canada West Quarter-final best-of-three series. With the home win, Manitoba sweeps the series after winning 5-1 in game one on Friday.

    WINNIPEG – On Friday Feb.17, the #5 Manitoba Bisons and Mount Royal Cougars took to the ice at the Wayne Fleming Arena for their first game of a three game series in the Canada West quarter-finals. The Bisons took game one by a score of 5-1 and lead the quarter-final series 1-0.

    The Cougars qualified for the postseason for the first time in program history and have been on a roll down the stretch. The Cougars lost 1-0, then defeated the No. 1 UBC Thunderbirds 2-0 last weekend, showing the entire national that they compete with anyone.

    The Cougars will conclude the regular season on the road against Canada’s top team, the UBC Thunderbirds. Mount Royal will likely finish in sixth spot in the conference, regardless of the weekend’s outcome. That means if the Cougars were to win their first round series, they would head right back to play the Thunderbirds again in the Canada West semifinals.

    CALGARY – The Saddledome was rocking as the Mount Royal Cougars defeated the University of Calgary Dinos 3-1, in front of a raucous crowd on Thursday night. Nicolette Seper, Shawni Rodeback and Rachel Piitz scored for Mount Royal. Cheyann Newman scored the lone goal for the Dinos in the loss.
  • Cougars and Dinos clash for fifth straight season on Saddledome ice

    The fifth annual Saddledome game goes Thursday night when the Dinos and Cougars square off. The Dinos have won three of four games on Saddledome ice but this season they have struggled and will likely finish last in the conference. Mount Royal is firmly cemented in a playoff spot for the first time in their Canada West career.

    EDMONTON – Sophomore defenseman Cayle Dillon scored the only goal of the game two minutes into double overtime, as the University of Alberta Pandas hockey team earned their sixth-straight win with a 1-0 decision over the Mount Royal Cougars, Friday night at Clare Drake Arena.
  • Cougars to play a home and home with the Pandas beginning in Edmonton

    Mount Royal got their first ever program victory over the Pandas on Oct. 29 at Clare Drake Arena. That win turned the tide on their season and the squad has nearly secured a playoff spot. The Cougars have three weekends to go, matching up with Alberta, Calgary and UBC.
