Four Mount Royal Cougars honoured by U SPORTS

Over the past 48 hours, across the nation, four Mount Royal Cougars have been honoured by U SPORTS.

In Quebec City ahead of their first ever U SPORTS Championship game, senior Tyler Schmidt was named a 2019 U SPORTS Men's Volleyball First Team All-Canadian.

It was a tremendous season for Schmidt as he put up 318 kills, 378.5 points, 28 service aces, 115 digs, and became the Canada West all-time points and kills leader.

Luis Lange was also honoured in Quebec City, being named to the 2019 U SPORTS Men's Volleyball All-Canadian All-Rookie team.

The 6′6″ middle racked up just over 100 kills, 144.5 points and 56 total blocks.

The two of them will look to lead the Cougars to victory in their first-ever U SPORTS Championship game today at 1:00 PM MST (WATCH LIVE HERE)

Just up the road in Edmonton at the U SPORTS Women's Volleyball Championship All-Canadian gala, Dholi Thokbuom was named to the 2019 U SPORTS Women's Volleyball All-Canadian All-Rookie team.

Thokbuom put up 113 kills, 172 points and 58 total blocks in her first season at Mount Royal. She led the team in solo blocks and ranked second in hitting percentage. She is one of the most exciting athletes in the league and will one to watch next season.

Finally, in Charlottetown, PEI Breanne Trotter was named to the 2019 U SPORTS Women's Hockey All-Canadian All-Rookie team.

Trotter took the league by storm in her first season as a Cougar and was additionally named the 2018-19 Canada West women's hockey Rookie of the Year. She finished the season with 20 points (9G, 11A), which put her first for the Cougars and first in the Canada West among rookies.
