As the Cougars entered the gym of the second ranked team in the nation, they were considerable underdogs. In total on Thursday evening, Schmidt had a game-high 25.5 points, edging out perennial all-star Devren Dear on the Manitoba side.

Last season, due to a lack of size on the team, Lefebvre had to play out of position and go up against some of the biggest players in the conference. This season, he is nicely insulated by a new set of post players and is back to playing power forward. Lefebvre didn’t miss a beat in his old position, scoring 42 points in two games this weekend.
